“21 complaints about farm smells and an idiotic bureaucracy – enough to ruin a life, a livelihood, and a family home“. Anthony Watts offers more outrage about the bureaucratic wrangling over the Thompson family’s farm in Western Australia.
“Is there a vendetta by some green elements of the DEC [Department of Environment and Conservation] against the Thompsons?”
Interesting, the feed lot had a Government license for 6,000 head of cattle I believe and they were said to be carrying around 10,000 head of cattle. A touch over-capacity, one could say.
The WA government issues this pdf booklet: http://www.water.wa.gov.au/PublicationStore/first/13596.pdf, which explicitly states the absolute minimum requirements to operate feedlot and limits to the maximum not to be exceeded carrying capacity. If we look at the average annual climate for Narrogin, you can quite clearly see the summer temperatures can easily exceed 100 degrees F on a regular basis, data is found here: http://www.weatherzone.com.au/climate/station.jsp?lt=site&lc=10614
Now, Narrogin is 192Km from Perth, and is the main wheat belt of WA, with a population of 4203 people the loss of jobs at the works would be severely felt in the local economy wiki=: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Town_of_Narrogin
Sadly, I think the incoherent fools would avoid looking for the real facts and follow the feel-good Jo Nova line of total horse hockey. These unfortunates are clearly forgetting cattle feed lots are large consumers of grain, antibiotics (cattle can’t handle grain feed well in their digestive system and it sickens them) and growth hormones as well and the volume of waste generated per pound of growth and methane produced is quite high. Interestingly, humans can easily detect bad smells at 5km, but can quickly filter them out and with H2S once the concentration rises, it is self masking, hence the need for various noxious gas detector alarms.
Who indeed heeds the inconvenient truth, when the incoherent ones in lunar orbit prefer pure horse hockey from Jo Nova or Anthony Watts instead.
why don’t you donate something worthwhile ie a bit of money and not shite comments
