WUWT publishing suspended – major announcement coming

WUWT publishing suspended – major announcement coming (2012-07-27). Anthony Watts alerts the scientific world to his impending ‘Einstein’ moment of “broad global interest”.

What a tease. The suspense is killing me!!!

July 29th Update: Anthony Watts’ science revelation is that his inkjet has finished printing a typo-ridden do-over of his attack on US surface station weather data, “to be submitted for publication”, with his usual denialist pals (McIntyre, Christie, Jones). The apparent purpose being to undermine the actual publication of former denialist Dr. Muller’s ’s Berkeley Earth Surface Temperature results.

  1. Dear Site Author
You appear to be a complete dickhead.

[You’re what Anthony would call an “anonymous coward”. Thanks for your nuanced analysis. – Ben]

  2. It had better be a global version of his surface stations project. Another update about a mere 6% of land surface is somewhat immaterial.

  3. Drat! I may miss this big announcement as I just learned I’m going to a picnic this afternoon. Smart-phone challenged me will have to wait several more hours to find out the greatest scientific pronouncement since Higgs-Boson. Hey — maybe that’s it! Maybe Anthony will announce he can’t reproduce CERN’s results. Perhaps he’s asked Heartland to redirect that website money so he can build a particle accelerator. Oh — the suspense is killing me!!

  4. New study shows half of the global warming in the USA is artificial

The temperature record is faulty, blah blah blah. He’s done this as a dig against Muller, who he incidentally ripped when the BEST papers came out by saying,

There’s only one problem: Not one of the BEST papers have completed peer review.

Nor has one has been published in a journal to my knowledge, nor is the one paper I’ve been asked to comment on in press at JGR, (where I was told it was submitted) yet BEST is making a “pre-peer review” media blitz.”

What does he say today about his non-peer reviewed paper?

“The pre-release of this paper follows the practice embraced by Dr. Richard Muller, of the Berkeley Earth Surface Temperature project in a June 2011 interview with Scientific American’s Michael Lemonick in “Science Talk”, said:

‘I know that is prior to acceptance, but in the tradition that I grew up in (under Nobel Laureate Luis Alvarez) we always widely distributed “preprints” of papers prior to their publication or even submission. That guaranteed a much wider peer review than we obtained from mere referees.’

Watts, always the hypocrite. His co-authors are McIntyre, Christy, and Evan Jones. Not exactly a group that inspires confidence.

[Let down! Just take usual promotion of lies before smarter people can hit the buzzer – Ben]

  5. Watt’s press release seems like it was cobbled together in a rush. He tries so hard to dance around Muller’s admission of having been a skeptic after arguing that Muller was not one. The facade is so thin. Hilarious! Heartland Institute, try harder.

  6. Could you Ben please inform us when the announcement is done?

[Thanks for the reminder! Done, but you’re going to be disappointed. – Ben]

    • Oh, thanks. No, I’m not disappointed, however I wonder what and where the announcement is. No need to educate me, I’ll find it someday, or maybe not.

  8. The irony of your third question is that Anthony owns and regularly drives an electric car, recently installed new solar panels on his home, and uses LED lighting throughout his home – all information posted on his site. Perhaps your readers may want to take a break from your dedicated ad hominem site and go over there and have a look a how he lives energy conservation rather than just talk about it.

[This is a news flash? Anthony tries to sell Chinese electric cars and has solar panels on his own house. Yet he’s eager to disparage the technologies. Ponder that for a moment the next time you find yourself memsmerized by Anthony’s bouncing ball logic. – Ben]
