The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly: My Initial Comments on the New Dessler 2011 Study

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly: My Initial Comments on the New Dessler 2011 Study” (2011-09-07). Anthony Watts says that Dr. Spencer’s continued whining about the treatment of his ill-conceived paper is “important”. So important that it must be accompanied by a pirated YouTube video of the theme music from a Clint Eastwood western.

Science! The Watts and Spencer way.

Does anything else really need to be said about ?

  1. Stealing music is a good metaphor for Watts, he has no originality or novel ideas so he has to steal and manipulate to give the impression of novelty.

  2. I also will be brief, so your readers will have more time to peruse Barry Bickmore’s critique.

Roy Spencer Responds With More Shoddy Statistics and Excuses

[Shakespeare got the flavour of Spencer’s paper, and his defense of it, too: “It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.” Barry Bickmore exposes Roy’s intellectual failings in more detail though! – Ben]

  3. Spencer is continuing to use his blog to promote his paper? Why can’t he duke this out in the peer-review rebuttals? Why did he avoid publishing a rebuttal to Dessler 2010 (in the journal Science) in the first place, instead going to the little-known Remote Sensing journal?

He is acting a bit cowardly and whiny.
