“WUWT search engine issues and site update” (2011-12-31). You know why Anthony Watts’ website isn’t the top science website in the whole world? Because we’re not Googling “global warming” and diligently hunting for and then clicking on WUWT. Get clicking, only you can stop the secret communist world government take-over! Speak truth to Power!
The blogger “Scottish Sceptic” has concluded that “Google hates WUWT … and more than likely is actively trying to repress the site.”
Although famously opaque, it seems that the painful truth is that Google’s heartless search algorithms have figured out that Anthony’s website is pretty much the least useful place to look for information about “global warming”.
Indeed. And ‘Real Science’ is the least useful place to look for information on real science.
Check Really Sciency a blog inspired in part by Wotts
[Good luck with your efforts, the more people highlighting denialist deception the better! You know when “Steve Goddard” is booted from WUWT and starts his self-inflated ‘Real Science’ website it will be appalling. – Ben]
Thanks for that. I’m also tempted to start one called ‘The Bishop’s Pill’ as an antidote to the nonsense from Montford. If anyone is interested, I have already mocked the sites header.
Hmmm… I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Google deliberately ‘manages’ search rankings for more than purely commercial reasons. But I suspect you are right – WUWT would not reasonably be near the top of sites one would want to find if looking for the serious science around AGW.
It does however turn up within the top 6 for the search “global warming blog truth”, and the top 4 for the search “global warming blog whole truth”.. And even more deliciously, it is number one for the search “most viewed global warming blog”.
Make of that what you will… :)
PS I shan’t say what this gets you – “all the facts global warming blog”
Hysterical! But, people *do* and *are* using WattsUpWithThat for Climate Science information. He is getting increasing coverage in the press too. That is fantastic because without both sides of the story being presented people cannot make informed choices. Hooray for the art of looking at both sides of a debate. Bravo Anthony!
[Yes some people are relying on WUWT, but they are landing there in ignorance or looking to support their prejudices. Anthony Watts is a proven partisan misinformer and his purpose is to mislead and confuse. That he succeeds to a certain degree is hardly cause for celebration. – Ben]
Chris Smith is obviously intellectually challenged since he cannot see the dishonesty that is coming from Wattsuphisbutt. He cannot see that all Watts and his cabal of deniers have to offer is junk science, pseudo science and lies.
Chris Smith seemingly hasn’t even junior high school science but he “knows” what is right and what is wrong. Dunning Kruger at its worst I’m afraid.
Well thanks for that highly intellectual speculation on my High School education Ian Forrester.
Actually I hold a BA in Sports Science from a North England Poly. Yes, that is right, a “Science” qualification. So I am a Scientist and that more than qualifies me to comment on a host of Scientific subjects from Climate Science to Cosmology to Water Divining to Evolution.
[What a surprise to hear that your qualifications are utterly unrelated to the topic upon which you so confidently expound. It’s easy to lose patience with ill-informed adversaries, but I think Ian was a bit over the top. – Ben]
Ben, I go on how people express their scientific knowledge and attitude. Chris Smith, just because he has a degree in “science” does not make him a scientist. He shows that he has no respect for science nor scientists with what he posts here and elsewhere.
He is either ignorant of real science or dishonest, take your pick.
[No argument from me, but half the time these bozos are simply playing a private mind game. Best not get drawn into them… – Ben]

At first I chuckled at what seemed like an obvious parody argument but then I checked your posting history at WUWT and discovered you trying to push 9/11 truther theories there making you actually more crazy and conspiratorial than the norm there!
And as mentioned having some type of qualification with “science” in the title from some type of institution does not make you a scientist nor does it qualify you to comment on things outside your expertise.
I googled “sexiest person alive” and I couldn’t find myself on the front page, what’s up with that?
O, well, you probably got about 15 k hits on me :)
