Quick, somebody slap a carbon tax on this new planet

Quick, somebody slap a carbon tax on this new planet. Oh, I see what you did there, Anthony. You used a completely un-related NASA astronomy news report to make fun of carbon taxes! That is so clever! It’s like you’ve jumped all the way to Class Clown with a rank of Grade Six!

Is your headline the only thought you had? Apparently yes.

  1. Yes, well the class clown was just awarded the “Bad Science
    of the Year Award” here:-

“The cognitive style of the denialist represents a warped sense of reality, which is why arguing with them gets you nowhere … All people fit the world into their own sense of reality, but the suspicious person distorts reality with uncommon rigidity.”(source George Monbiot, July 14th, 2010) I wonder, is there any time line on the Anthony’s always soon to be released comedy science “Urban Heat Island Myth and Legends Effect Paper” ?

  2. Someone has sent Anthony a collage of covers showing three TIME magazine covers, ending in one from 2010 attributing the ‘holiday freeze’ to GW. Which he has dutifully posted up … heh heh

Only trouble is, this last one seems to be a mockup, no doubt for ‘satirical’ purposes. I can’t find it in the Time database. I can’t find the 2010 one in this database.

Gosh, I hope WUWt hasn’t just posted up a possibly defamatory fabrication without performing a basic fact-check…

      • The head text has been subtly altered indicating that the mockup is intended as a spoof, which some did not ‘get’. Ah, so when he wrote:

“a great compendium of Time Magazine covers that illustrate the history of that magazine’s global warming coverage from the 1970′s to the present.”

what he meant was ‘2 genuine covers and a photoshopped 2010 mockup intended to make TIME look inconsistent.’

Clearly one of those who did not ‘get’ this leaden ‘spoof’ was Watts himself. Though, if Anthony is mixing up facts and spoof, i wonder how much else of his site is not meant to be taken seriously? Not a great start to the New Year.

BTW, contrary to the Wattsian boast of no censorship, two posts of mine have yet to appear. (Yeah I know, but I was bored).

  3. Ben, I’m really looking towards you getting you teeth into some of the even more (if that’s possible) prize winning nonsense some of the Christmas time guest contributors have posted. Some time in mid January I guess ;)

[Let’s see what happens to my New Year’s resolution! Sounds like there’s some good laughs waiting for me though. – Ben]
