So requests have been made for background information about a workshop on ensuring integrity of submissions to CARB, and the workload has resulted in a delay. Anthony is certain that this was designed to scare away denialists trying to submit their bogus assertions, but it sounds more like the delay is more likely the result of an “auditor” style bombardment.

Maybe there’s a difference between communications that give “unprecedented insight into the US Government’s foreign activities” and e-mails that don’t in fact reveal anything at all about the science of climatology?

IPCC head Pachauri booted from “Global Thinkers” list. Anthony Watts returns to his obsession with Dr. Rajendra Pachauri, Chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Dr. Pachauri’s dropped off a random list of “important people” in Foreign Policy magazine! He was fifth last year! Also, Pachauri wrote a novel that Anthony keeps trying to pretend that his novel is “smutty”. Wow, that’s damning isn’t it?
Who gives a rats ass about a magazine’s online poll about top Global Thinkers? Well, I guess Anthony does.
Psst, a Marxist muslim (aka Democrat President Barak Obama) is #3 on the list and Hilary and Bill Clinton are #13. Denialist gadfly Bjorn Lomberg makes #65, presumably for entertainment value, but he’s 26 places behind the President of the Maldives and 16 places behind environmental scientist Vaclav Smil. The more trivial and less scientific something is, the more Anthony will take offense to it. His battle is entirely about the “optics” of the Global Warming debate. It’s funny though that Anthony doesn’t understand “creative license” in the media. His heroes Lord Monckton and Ian Plimer, specialize in it.
IPCC Official: “Climate Policy Is Redistributing The World’s Wealth. This one’s a bit out of order, but Anthony Watts’ world government paranoia is just to classic to pass up. Anthony has received instructions from the Global Warming Policy Foundation, a denialist lobby group, that he should suggest to his readers that an IPCC official has admitted that Climate Change policies are really just a way for environmentalists and their cronies to steal money from decent Americans.
But what did Ottmar Edenhofer really say (italics mine)?
Basically it’s a big mistake to discuss climate policy separately from the major themes of globalization. The climate summit in Cancun at the end of the month is not a climate conference, but one of the largest economic conferences since the Second World War.
First of all, developed countries have basically expropriated the atmosphere of the world community. But one must say clearly that we redistribute de facto the world’s wealth by climate policy. Obviously, the owners of coal and oil will not be enthusiastic about this. One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate policy is environmental policy. This has almost nothing to do with environmental policy anymore, with problems such as deforestation or the ozone hole.
That sounds like commie talk to me! Or, maybe, it sounds like rationality. There are serious economic implications to attaching the real costs of carbon emissions to the industries and products that generate them. And the transfer he is talking about is from carbon-intensive industries to… humanity. Read some intelligent comments about this at Rabett Run.
Despite hellish summer, Russia says “nyet” to AGW. Russia doesn’t want to bear any of the direct climate change costs, so like many myopic governments, they’re taking an obstructionist position to the UN Climate Conference in Cancun. To Anthony Watts, this is “evidence” that Global Warming is false. After all, it’s not about the science, it’s about public opinion.
Funny how Anthony and his readers accuse Obama and the Democrats of being “crypto-Marxists” but happily embrace the increasingly totalitarian Russian government’s positions on the environment…
