“Sea Ice News #31“. Anthony Watts discusses Joe Bastardi’s idiotic half-cocked accusation of fraud in the NSIDC’s Sea Ice data. You know your ‘team-mates’ are becoming a liability when even Anthony has to walk back their claims and even try to minimize the damage by admitting things like: “eyeballing can be an error prone activity, and a risky bet.”

Anthony has the gall to lay the final blame on the NSIDC for not publishing their daily data. Why, because they release data on a weekly basis, an over-eager denialist might jump to a rash conclusion!

Eyeballing is the only tactic Anthony’s can use to pretend he has a factual point in the Global Warming discussion, isn’t it? Oh, there’s cherry-picking too.

Strangely, the only scientists they mention are Roy Spencer and Richard Lindzen, both deeply compromised denialists. The rest of the post is a careful selection of “news” that blindly promotes denialist interests. Oh, and the Cancun climate conference is going to be such a failure.

I guess this is the price of getting your high school projects so neatly bound Anthony.

“Surgical anesthetic gases coming under fire for global warming potential – Only one problem: they haven’t been observed in the atmosphere“. Another anti-science whine from Anthony Watts. A study of anesthetic gases concludes that they are extremely active in the atmosphere, but are present in such modest quantities that they have little practical impact.

This seems to fall under the “learning is a waste of time” category. How dare scientists investigate something and not discover a way to make cheaper cars? If you don’t know exactly what you’re going to discover, why bother?

Time for a taxpayer revolt! The commenters are concluding that this paper is trying to ban medical anesthetics so more people will die. This calls for a head-smack.

P.S. I love the paper’s atmospheric radiance chart that Anthony reproduces. It unequivocally shows the “greenhouse effect”. Which doesn’t exist.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

 

But you forgot to exclude the truth in the press release you copy-and-pasted:

Professor John Remedios, Head of Earth Observation Science at the University of Leicester, said “These images demonstrate how much our local climate depends on a combination of the climate mean temperature in a given month and the meteorological variability which can produce very cold and very warm months. For the UK, it is another cold winter.”

I doubt his readers got that far in though, or have strong mental defense mechanisms…

Google Earth announces new “earth engine” at Cancun. Uh oh, Google has announced an “Earth Engine” for Google Earth at the Cancun climate conference. It integrates global satellite imagery for environmental analysis.

Look for Anthony Watts and friends to start a new round of microscopic cherry-picking and yet somehow continue to miss the actual global picture. Of course “top scientists” helped create it, so we know that it’s already “corrupt”.
